PRIVATE WORKSHOP: enjoy a privileged moment with Saskia and benefit from personalised guidance to create a unique jewel !
The workshop is led by the experienced goldsmith and teacher, Saskia.
Before the workshop, you will need to gather your old gold jewellery that you want to transform. Also, try and think about what piece of jewellery you would like to create. Try and draw how it could look. Please bring the gold and sketches or examples of jewellery you like, along with you.
We will start the session by weighing your old gold. This will be followed by a discussion of your ideas for a new piece of jewellery, and the drawing of its design.
After that, you can get started!
Supervised by Saskia, you will dismantle your jewellery. You will then melt your gold into a small bar. From this, you will start creating your design. Excitingly, you will learn basic goldsmithing techniques, including drawing down wire, and/or working with gold sheet. Using these methods, you will build and realise your design.
You will leave this workshop with your finished new piece of jewellery.
Please note: Saskia does not supply the gold for this workshop. Participants must bring their own old gold jewellery with them. If there is any stone-setting required, there is an extra cost, and a one-week waiting period. The workshop will start at 2pm and end around 10pm. Refreshments will be provided, and there will be a 45-minute break, with soup and sandwiches.
Workshop location:
Aalst Street 7, 1000 Brussels
