Join Miku and Sachiyo, two passionate Japanese cooks, for a workshop on making traditional homemade gyoza.
The workshop begins with a presentation by Miku and Sachiyo, followed by a discussion about the history of gyoza and their role in Japanese culture. You will learn about the necessary ingredients and utensils.
You will then move on to making the filling, for which you can choose between a meat or vegetarian option. Miku and Sachiyo will guide you through cutting, seasoning and mixing the ingredients while sharing typical variations and techniques.
If the homemade pastry option is included, you will learn how to make it from scratch. Otherwise, you can start folding the gyoza straight away. Miku and Sachiyo will demonstrate several traditional techniques and guide you through forming your own pieces.
Next is the cooking stage: you will discover the yaki-gyoza method, which combines a crispy base with steaming. Once the gyoza are ready, you will get to taste them in a relaxed atmosphere with Japanese accompaniments and tea.
The workshop will end with a chat and a recipe card so that you can make your own gyoza at home.
