Immerse yourself in Japanese culture by learning how to make your own sushi with Miku and Sachiyo, who are both Japanese natives with a passion for traditional cuisine.
The workshop begins with an introduction to Miku and Sachiyo, followed by a discussion about the history of sushi, its various forms, and its significance in Japanese cuisine. They will then introduce you to the essential ingredients, such as sushi rice, vinegar, seaweed and fish, as well as the necessary utensils.
You will then learn how to prepare the rice, which is crucial for successful sushi. Miku and Sachiyo will guide you through the process of rinsing, cooking and mixing with vinegar, and provide valuable insights on achieving the perfect texture.
Then it’s time to make your own sushi! Depending on the day’s programme, you will practise making different types of sushi, such as maki, nigiri or California rolls. With Miku’s guidance, each participant will prepare their own piece of sushi, mastering the techniques to achieve a tasty, well-crafted result.
The atmosphere is relaxed and conducive to sharing and discovery. At the end of the workshop, you can sample your creations and take home any leftovers.
This is the perfect opportunity to learn basic techniques, discover new flavours, and gain a better understanding of the richness of Japanese cuisine!
